While attending Catholic University, Columbus School of Law, Ms. Lawson was a Student Attorney for the Families and Law Clinic. Ms. Lawson represented domestic violence victims in attaining temporary civil protection orders and divorces, as well as other domestic relations issues. She was also a Legal Intern for the United States Department of Justice, Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Section in Washington, D.C. where she conducted research on extraterritorial jurisdictional issues in the field of criminal law. In 2003 Ms. Lawson served as a judicial intern for Honorable Vincent LeBlon of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Middlesex County, Civil Division.
Ms. Lawson was previously an Associate at Wolff & Samson, P.C. where she focused her practice in Commercial Litigation with an emphasis in Employment Law. As a commercial litigator, Ms. Lawson regularly represented management in all types of employment related matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage & hour issues, as well as other business related torts before State Courts and Administrative Agencies. In addition, to litigation, Ms. Lawson regularly counseled employees in connection with development and implementation of employment policies and the development and updating of employee handbooks, along with other employment management issues. Ms. Lawson also negotiated and drafted various forms of employment agreements, including nondisclosures agreements, severance agreements and nonsolicitation agreements.
Ms. Lawson is currently Secretary of the Garden State Bar Association. She is also a member of the Monmouth Bar Association, the Association of Black Women Lawyers, the NJ Women Lawyer's Association and the New Jersey State Bar. In addition she is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management.
